Using Two-Step Verification

Two-step verification (also known as two-factor authentication, 2FA) plays a vital role in securing your personal data. It provides an additional layer of security for your account. 2FA combines your password (something you know) with a secondary factor like your smartphone or smart card (something you have).

This extra level of protection ensures that, even if an unauthorized person accesses your username and password, that person still won’t be able to log in to your account.

Two-step verification is an optional feature in Hiveage but we highly recommend you to enable it in your account. It is free and easy to implement.

Before Enabling Two-Step Verification

To use two-step verification in Hiveage, you will need to install an Open Authentication (OATH) software in your smartphone. We recommend using Google Authenticator.

Enabling Two-Step Verification

  1. Log into your Hiveage Account
  2. In the top navigation bar, click on the tab with your name on it, and select Your Global Profile from the dropdown menu.
  3. Select the Access tab and click Two-Step Verification
  4. You will be asked to re-enter your password in order to enable two-step verification.
  5. A unique QR code will be then presented. Scan it to the smartphone using your OATH app (e.g., Google Authenticator).
  6. Once the QR code has been scanned, your authenticator app will show a 6-digit security code. Enter this in the field and click Confirm. This will link the authenticator app to your Hiveage account and enable two-step verification.

Important: When you set up two-step verification, Hiveage will provide you with an emergency backup code. Please keep this saved securely: it can be used once to log into Hiveage without the authenticator app.

Using Two-Step Verification

When you have enabled two-step verification in your Hiveage account, you will be prompted for the authentication code from your OATH app when you sign in.

Simply load up the OATH app and type in the code into the field, and hit Submit to log in.

Using the Emergency Backup Code

If you have lost access to the authenticator app for some reason, you can still log in to Hiveage using your emergency backup code.

When you’re prompted for the verification code during the login process, click the link Try another way to log in, and enter the backup code.

When you use the emergency backup code to log in, two-step verification will be disabled in your Hiveage account. You can set it up again following the steps mentioned above.
